The Deal on Dough

Quick tips to save on bread

At Food on the Table, bread is one of the Top 5 Most Added Items to the grocery list.  Follow these tips to make the most out of each slice.

Freeze it. Loaves can be frozen 4-6 months and still taste fresh when thawed so you can stock up when it’s on sale.

Use stale bread. Heeling isn’t just for Bullmastiffs.  Use the lonely ends to make homemade croutons, breadcrumbs, or bread pudding.

Bake it. Bread’s basic ingredients (flour, yeast, salt) are inexpensive, but prepping the dough is a lot of work.  Do it the easy way with the latest phenomenon of No Knead Bread
